Captain's Quarters Comments: Michigan Primaries Predictions

  • karenhasfreedom · 1 year ago
I think it speaks volumes of Hillary's "character" (oh wait, we are talking about a clinton here, and character in the same sentence is an osymoron). Edwards and Obama pulled out of the primaries and played by the rules when the DNC decided Michigan stepped out of bounds with their primary. However, Clinton stayed on the ballot. So she is running against Kucinich and uncommitted. According to the exit polls, 69% of the african american vlotes on the east side of the state are putting down uncommitted. Take THAT Hillary. HAHA.

Sorry, typo, wanted to type oxymoron. By the way is anyone expecting fireworks in the Dem debate tonite?
  • bikerken · 1 year ago
Good question, I'm betting there's going to be a lot of tension in the air, that could really cause someone to stick there foot in their mouth.

When & where? Yawn... I'll probably miss it anyway and settle for the "Monday Morning" highlights.

" Hillary is the only major candidate on the ballot; "

    Just like the Soviet Union!!

    How Quaint !!

Have we come a long way, or what???

So just why does ANYONE care about what happens in MI?? It's just Gobbly Gook!!

so I guess we've had how many significant primaries up til now ... 1 ... 2 ??? So 2 out of 20 - 30 total big delegate states ... hardly deep into the race ... winning now in meaningless ... just like a marathon ... whomever gets the most delegates BY THE END is the winner ... not who won the latest state ...

Looks like Romney is gonna win this one!!!!!!!! NOt that I want Romney. . but this knocks McCain out of the box.

I can just see the Dem convention with Hillary and Obama just short of the number to get the nomination, when all of a sudden the DNC decides to reinstate the Michigan delegates because of 'disenfranchisement'.
  • essucht · 1 year ago
Isn't that what the "superdelegates" are for?

I think you are underestimating the anger that the Democrats feel towards her and Granholm right now. I think Hillary will be in the high 40's but won't pass 50%. As of the lunch hour, the turnout was only about 3 to 5 percent lower than expected.
  • AH_C · 1 year ago
Particularly in Detroit, I'd be surprised if she gets a quarter of the vote. Then again with Kwame running Detroit into the ground as fast as he can, miracles can happen and prove Cap Ed right.

I just wish I could find a way to incorporate the "lemon law" into a suit against Granholm :)
  • bikerken · 1 year ago
Couldn't agree more on Granholm, a socialist empty suit, but she's so pretty! It's always annoyed me how much importance liberals put on looks. Remember when she was first elected and all the dem pundits were lamenting the fact that she was born in Canada so she could never run for president. So far, it looks to me like she shouldn't have been elected postmaster.

The more it snows, the lower the turnout, they are esitmating twenty percent. I don't think that many people are going to come out and pull the lever for Hilarity in this kind of weather. Detroit is over 90% black, and they are not going to lift a finger to vote for her. Nor will they go out in a heavy snow for the sole purpose of voting for the Repub that they think will mess with the GOP. The only place you'll see a lot of that is around Ann Arbor where UofM is. A lot of holy rollers in the west of MI will vote for Huck, but I can't tell how much, they are VERY conservative in the Dutch strongholds. There are so many Dutch in west MI that if they get an unidentified corpse in the morgue, they call him 'John VanderDoe'.

Right now we are looking at Intrade: Romney 62, McCain 35. That is a HUGE swing from earlier today. I think Romney wins by 6 to 10 points and OWNS the republican vote.
  • Not Tony · 1 year ago
I really think more Dems and moderates are going to show - this is Michigan, it snows all the time - and I think it's McCain by 5 points.
  • Dan · 1 year ago
That seems pretty spot-on, except perhaps a little high in Giuliani -- are we sure he's going to poll 10% anywhere?
