Before you post things you really should do your homework so that you won't show your incredible ignorance to the entire cyber world. McCain reimbursed Paxon for his use of their jets and it has already been proven that he did not sway the F.C.C.'s vote in any way. He also voted against Paxon on numerous occasions and so your innuendo is severely flawed. By the, way are you a reporter for the Times? You are about as informed as one!

An interesting sidebar - Timesman Stephen Labaton got a couple of frontpagers about the McCain-Paxson-FCC letters story in Jan 2000; the "scandal" fizzled out back then after a McCain document dump in which he released all his letters to regulatory agencies on behalf of anyone and everyone.

But he is back, fired up, and ready to go.

please look at the "bug" on the times article about it being part of a group of stories about how the candidates came to be who they are. something about "long road." so saying this was all a ploy to "rehash" the Keating 5 stories is an absolutely ignorant statement (thus explaining its popularity on conservative talk shows). for a real drill down, push a couple of more google buttons and look at the article in the same series on Obama which goes back to his college drug use -- and quotes many people who imply Obama made a lot of it up to spice up his book. And what is wrong with rehashing Keating 5? A lot of people voting this time were little kids when it was in the news, and it is a major event in McCain's career by his own analysis.

If you want to salvage your chances, ya need to put on the sackcloth and do the Prodigal Son routine. Here's a short list:
1) Acknowledge you were sincerely wrong on some issues - you know what they are,
2) Pledge to undo the legislations you supported that undermined conservative principles - proposing the corrective actions now while still a Senator is worth an extra 10 points,
3) Start proposing your cabinet members and other key individuals - we want to see a significant # of conservatives named,

Do this ASAP and you'll improve your chances. Otherwise, a 3rd party conservative candidate become viable that will slip between you & the donks come Nov.

The romantic part is just the fluff, the real damaging part of the story is the fact that McCain is using corporate jets of Paxon Communications at the time they have business in front of his Commerce Committee, especially when you've built a reputation as having "seen the light "after the Keating Five affair. It may not be illegal but it sure is a questionable ethical practice.

At least with incident, the Keating Five incident and the pressure he brought to bear to cover up Cindy McCain's theft and usage of drugs from her medical charity incident, it's obvious his ethical lapses are for friends and family, not money.

Is anyone surprised by this? The far Left don't love McCain past the point he sticks it to Conservatives. But when comparing him to a truly radical Leftist, he will become the "Evil Conservative" (Just like they did with Bush) who must be stopped.

This is why we should have nominated a true Conservative, although at this point it is a mute point. If we are going to take the false attacks of the Liberal media, we might as well earn that right.

And you apparently don't know that a .22 caliber round can be quite deadly, as .22 and .25 caliber "pop guns" are the choice of many gang-bangers. Further, Ronald Reagan was actually clinically "dead" for a brief period of time during surgery, a point that was not disclosed for obvious reasons.

Thompson is returning to her pod at the Washington Post, where she learned her "craft". If true, the N.Y. Times has proven that McCain remains virile, or uses Dole's product. If false, then no one except McCain's wife knows. Coming from the N.Y. Times, which defended Bill Clinton's serial "indiscretions" as "private", this is rich! And from what I hear, the N.Y. Times's senior staff are in no position to run around complaining about infidelity and sexual immorality!

As for the "improper influence" allegation, Senators intervene with government agencies for constituents all the time. Even in Keating Five, McCain was absolved of the most serious charges. Three of his Democrat Senate colleagues were not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Bill Clinton rewarded one of them nonetheless. "DeConcini was appointed by President Bill Clinton in February, 1995 to the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation."
